The InsureMe Advice Loop
How a needs analysis becomes agreed cover, how that cover gets locked in, and why the next annual review starts where the last one finished.
→ next ← back · some slides are clickable
The shape of it
Two loops, one nested inside the other
Outer loop. The Incendio journey named Insurance review (InsureMe). Eight stages carry the client forms, quotes, underwriting, signatures and the cancellation gate.
Inner loop. The InsureMe Overview page. Five steps do the modelling: Cover Inputs, As-is, Needs Analysis, Proposed cover, Issued.
The distinction that matters
“Lock in” happens twice. Working amounts are agreed on the Proposed cover tab in InsureMe. Formal client acceptance is a signature stage back in Incendio.

Incendio · Stages 1–2
Start with the client’s facts
- 1Needs analysisThe client completes the Insurance needs questionnaire. Household, incomes, debts, objectives and health preferences merge into the CRM insurance profile.
- 2Existing coverThe client completes the Existing policies inventory, up to twelve policy slots, and can upload schedules. This becomes the Policy Register seed.
Start the template named Insurance review (InsureMe). The plain “Insurance review” has no modelling stage and never opens InsureMe. The InsureMe module must be switched on for the firm by a platform admin.

Forms are the audit trail. The CRM insurance profile is what a new cover plan seeds from.
Incendio · Stage 3 · modelling stage
Hand off to InsureMe
The stage panel shows one button. Create InsureMe Plan when the client has no cover plan yet. Open InsureMe when one exists.
A new plan seeds itself from the CRM once, at creation. Opening an existing plan never re-seeds. Tick the task Model in InsureMe when the modelling is done.
Adviser inputs needs and runs assessment calculations in InsureMe to produce one or more proposed cover plans.
- Model in InsureMe
Only one of these shows at a time, depending on whether a cover plan already exists.
- 1People from the CRM, spouse included.
- 2Money gap-filled from the RetireMe plan, if one exists.
- 3Policies from the insurance profile, else the inventory form.
- 4Needs, objectives, health preferences, shallow cover.
Imported data never overwrites a fact you have marked verified.
InsureMe · Step 1
Cover Inputs, then Recalculate needs
- aFour sub-tabs: Household, Financial Position, Objectives, Policy Register.
- bCheck the objectives. Clear mortgage on death adds the mortgage principal to the death need.
- cCheck the register lines seeded from the CRM. Reliability is judged per line, so an unknown definition credits less than its face.
- dPress Recalculate needs. This is the needs analysis. A dialog then offers to open As-is.
6 scenario rows are ready. Open As-is for gaps and lifelong impact, or Needs Analysis for the full need / resources / credits table.
InsureMe · Steps 2–3
Read the signed gap
As-is shows a signed gap per scenario, credited from the Policy Register. Positive is a shortfall. Negative is a surplus, and it stays visible rather than being clamped to zero.
Needs Analysis has the full need, resources and credits table, the scenario breakdown, the RetireMe shock cross-checks for death and TPD, and its own Recalculate button.
Every recalculate appends an audit batch to History, stamped with engine version and assumption set. Identical results collapse into one entry. The plan autosaves to the CRM.
One row per scenario per person. IP splits illness from accident because ACC covers accident and not illness.
InsureMe · Step 4
Agree the recommended amounts
The nav calls this tab Proposed cover. The docs and the F11 banner call the same page Agreed Cover.
Recommendation lines appear only after a recalculate on this plan. Agree all recommended on this plan locks every open line at the model amount with status Selected. The per-line button does one.
Selected is a working proposal on this cover plan only. It is not client acceptance.
Locks each open line at the model amount on this cover plan (status: Selected).
| Person | Cover | Recommended | Election | Action |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex | life | $840,000 | — | |
| Alex | tpd | $310,000 | — | |
| Sam | income protection | $4,500 /mo | — |
InsureMe · Step 4 · revised cover
Lock in a different amount
- aExpand Record a different elected amount. It is a collapsed section under the agree table.
- bChoose the recommendation, type the client-selected amount, add residual-risk notes, set the status, then Save election.
- cAn existing election has Edit for the same fields, plus a status dropdown on its row.
- dAdviser override is separate and optional. It records that your figure differs from the model, with a reason. It locks nothing.
Save as cover option copies this plan, elections included, to a named option. Compare options under Manage Cover Plan(s).
Record a different elected amount
Show adviser override (optional) · Use only when the adviser’s recommended figure differs from the model, not for locking in client agreement.
InsureMe · what changes where
Elections move the Proposed view, not the register
Agreed amounts do not rewrite the signed gap on Needs Analysis. They feed the Proposed impact base on As-is and Lifelong Outlook, which switches on by itself once elections exist.
Recalculate always re-derives recommendations from the Policy Register. Only Issued, with Set face, changes the register.

How much cover actually holds the plan?
Both panels carry the same retirement plan as the dashed line. The solid line is the death path. The only thing that changes between them is Cover at death.
Real output, not an illustration
- ClientAndrew & Susan Parata
- Chart BaseAndrew & Ben Parata · 84f3c490
- Death ofAndrew, 2027
- SurvivorSusan, on $127,363
- Elected, survivor horizon unset$1,552,475
- Support Susan to 65 instead$2,361,989
- Years of funded spending bought26
- Assets behind her in 2040$2,694,470
The lever is an objective, not a bigger guess. Survivor support age was never set, so the model fell back to its ten-year default and recommended $1,552,475. Setting it to Susan's 65 recomputes the same method at $2,361,989. That is a modest, placeable increase for a household on $260,638 of income.
Cash is not the same as broke. These charts plot liquid money. The family home sits outside them and keeps growing, so assets behind Susan are $2.69m in 2040 and $3.34m by 2052. When the solid line dips, it means selling or borrowing against the house, not destitution. Switch the panel to Net worth in Table view to show a client that buffer.
Do not chase the cross-check. The RetireMe shock solver returns $10,778,000 for this household, because the Tier B death shock never steps household spending down for one fewer person. It is a cross-check on direction, not a sum to insure. To reproduce: As-is, Lifelong Outlook, Chart Base set to the linked RetireMe plan, Death of set to Andrew, then change Cover at death.
InsureMe · Step 5
Issued writes the register
When the insurer issues, set the election’s status to Issued or Applied. A dialog asks whether to update the Policy Register.
- aSet face writes the elected amount, creating an “Agreed cover (pending detail)” line or overwriting the matching person and cover type.
- bTop up adds only the difference above what the register already holds.
- cNot now leaves the register unchanged. The election stays on the plan.
The new line carries the provenance “product rules not yet confirmed”. Fill in insurer and product detail on the register afterwards. This is the only step that changes the register, and it is what the next review’s As-is will show.
Choose issued to see the register prompt.

Update Policy Register?
This election is marked issued at $840,000. Issued means in-force on the Policy Register. Formal client acceptance remains in Incendio CRM. Update the register now?

Replacing cover? The F11 gate holds the cancellation
At the bottom of Proposed cover, add a case in the Replacement worksheet. Cancellation blocked is on by default.
Incendio stage 7, Cancel superseded cover, cannot be completed or skipped while that box is ticked. The journey shows the banner and the API refuses. Untick it only once the new policy is live.
The gate reads the client’s default cover plan. Keep the worksheet on that plan.
Also on the case: existing policies in scope, proposed summary, new exclusions or loadings, premium horizon, health changes since underwriting, commission disclosure, adviser rationale, client acknowledgement.
Cancellation block cleared in InsureMe. The three confirmations can now be ticked and the stage completed.
- Confirm replacement accepted by client
- Confirm replacement policy issued
- Confirm existing cover cancelled or lapse lodged

Next annual review
The next review starts at As-is
- aStart Insurance review (InsureMe) again. At stage 3 click Open InsureMe, not Create.
- bThe register already holds the issued cover, so As-is is the true current picture.
- cRecalculate for fresh gaps. Agree, issue, and write the register again.
- dCopy As keeps year-on-year history as separate cover plans.
If the CRM insurance profile is newer than the plan, Overview shows an amber warning. The plan keeps its own facts. Edit Cover Inputs directly, or create a fresh plan to re-seed.

What usually trips people up
Agree is not acceptance
Selected means agreed on this cover plan only. Formal acceptance is the signature in Incendio stage 6.
The revised-amount form is collapsed
It sits under a disclosure below the agree table. Expand it to type a client-selected amount.
Empty recommendations mean no recalculate yet
The page says so. A copied option saved without elections also starts empty.
